ACCOMPLISHMENTS/ HIGHLIGHTS: 

1.        Congratulations to our band and cheerleaders for winning the Wal-Mart/ Coca-Cola competition for the second time.  Great job!!!

 

ATHLETICS:

1.        Student tickets for Saturday’s game will be available during lunch today.

2.        Basketball vs. Bradley Central on Saturday, November 21st at 6:00 p.m.

 

CLUBS & GROUPS:

1.        The faculty and staff would like to say thank you for the many ways you have shown your appreciation during American Education Week.  We appreciate your thoughtfulness.

2.        Junior Beta will be meeting during the first part of lunch today in Ms. Leonard's room.

3.        There will be a LEO Club meeting on Tuesday, November 22, at 7:15 in Mr. Robin Smith’s room.  All members need to be present and need to pay dues if you haven’t paid them already.

4.        Be thankful for our pets!  Interact is collecting for the Humane Society in the month of November.  We are collecting Clorox bleach, cat litter, dog treats, paper towels and pet toys.  If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring them to FCHS.

5.        The Fellowship of Christian Athletes meets every Friday at 7:15 a.m. in the auditorium.  Everyone is welcome.

6.        Any student interested in joining the Domino Club please see Dr. Dixon.

 

DISMISSAL (school related events):

1.        No early dismissals today.

 

FACULTY MEETINGS:

1.        Faculty meetings will be the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  These dates are:  December 8th, January 12th, February 9th, March 9th, April 13th and May 11th. 

 

GUIDANCE INFORMATION:

1.        For a complete listing of Guidance scholarships, awards, etc., check out the Guidance section on the school website by going to http://franklincountyschools.k12tn.net/ and click on the schools tab; click on Franklin County High School (close to the bottom of the page); click on Guidance (top left hand corner; 6th option down).

2.        Tennessee Concrete Association:  High School Essay Contest 2009 application is available in guidance.  This essay is open to all high school students ages 16 – 18.  The deadline is Monday, November 30, 2009.

3.        Free & Reduced applications are available all year long.  See Guidance if your situation changes and you wish to apply.

 

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

1.        Students, our goal is to keep you from going to court for any punitive reasons- seek out an adult if you need to vent or converse about any issue.  Let’s maintain a peaceable environment.

2.        The aim of a peaceable school is not to abolish conflict but to deal with it creatively.

3.        F.C.H.S. strives to be a latex safe environment.  No latex products will be permitted in this building.  Some common products which contain latex include balloons, gloves, costume masks, band-aids, rubber bands and pink pearl erasers.

4.        We will not be issuing bus passes for bus 8, 14, 29, 48 and 51 until further notice.

5.        Fee waiver forms are available in the main office upon request.

6.        If you need your Certificate of Compulsory Attendance please give Mrs. Boyett a 24-hour notice.  Ninth graders will need to contact Mrs. Delinda McDonald at 967-0626 first semester for your Certificate of Compulsory Attendance if you plan to get your permit or driver’s license before January, 2010. (Forms are good for 30 days from the date they are printed)

 

LUNCH SCHEDULE – November 16th  – 20th

1.        Hour – long lunch – Monday , Tuesday, Thursday & Friday; Traditional lunch schedule – Wednesday

2.        Pulling a fire alarm is serious for two reasons. 

·         It is against the law – filing a false report

·         Fire department responds unless notified and this could prevent them from assisting in an actual emergency

 

PARENT INFORMATION:

1.        Report cards go out today.

2.        Campora Family Resource Center is currently taking applications for Angel Tree.  This will be for clothing only!  Please refer the parents of any student that you feel are in need of this service.  Applications will be taken on Mon. – Fri. from 10am – 3pm.  Campora will also be taking applications on the 23rd and 24th from 10am – 3pm.  The 24th is the last day to fill out an application.  Tell the parents they will need to bring a photo ID, proof of income and proof of custody.  If there are any questions please contact Eric Vanzant at 967-7825.

3.        The CoverKids program will stop accepting new enrollment applications after November 30, 2009, as the program for uninsured children is expected to reach its budgeted capacity.  Please contact Bonita Nolan, School Health Coordinator at 967-7825 for an application or if you need more information.

STUDENT BODY INFORMATION:

1.        Report cards go out today.

4.        The 4th Annual Miss Franklin County Beauty Pageant will be Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Regions Bank Community Room.  Deadline to enter:  November 20, 2009 at noon.  Applications must be postmarked by this date and mailed to:  Miss FC  PO Box 644 Tullahoma, Tennessee 37388.  For information email amyjharper@gmail.com :  Applications are available in the front office.  You can also pick up an application at A Formal Affair on the square and drop off at A Formal Affair, Curves or STS on the Cowan Highway next to Winchester Urgent Care.

 

TEACHER AND STAFF INFORMATION:

1.        Attention Faculty & Staff:  FBLA will be doing recycling on Tuesday of next week, instead of Friday of this week, due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, Please remind the students to keep everything separated: paper, cardboard, and plastic!  Have a great break!

TEST – UPCOMING DATES:

1.        Gateway Testing/EOC will be December 7th – 11th first semester.  December 7th – US History EOC; December 8th – Algebra I EOC/Gateway; December 9th – English I EOC and English II EOC/Gateway; December 10th – Biology EOC/Gateway; December 11th – Make-up day.

2.        Writing Assessment will be February 2nd.

3.        Mandated ACT for 11th graders will be March 9th.

4.        March 22nd – April 9th is the Achievement Test Window.

5.        AP Tests dates are: May 4th – Statistics AP Testing.; May 5th – Calculus AP Testing; May 6th – English Literature AP Testing; May 10th – Biology AP Testing.

6.        Gateway testing/EOC will be May 5th – 7th for 2nd semester.

 

TUTORING \ MAKE-UP WORK:

1.        Mrs. Parks will have the Library open for make up work on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 6:45- 7:45 am and Thursday afternoons from 3:15- 4:30 pm.  Teachers if you have make-up work for students please put it in your folder in the Library workroom.

2.        Math tutoring is being offered Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. in the computer lab beside the library.

3.        Math tutoring is being offered on Wednesday afternoons from 3:15 until 4:30 in the computer lab beside the library.

4.        Mrs. Kreidenweis is tutoring on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. in her room.  A parent has to attend with the student.  Algebra I only

5.        The University of the South Tutors will be here on Tuesday and Wednesday.  ACT Prep will be on both days although I advise you to come on Tuesdays.  The time and place will remain the same 3:30 – 4:30 in South 131.
